As those of you living in the U.S gather to celebrate Thanksgiving I ask that you pause to remember what today is really all about. Today is not just about sitting around eating turkey and watching football, but it is a day that we as country have decided to set aside every year to remember all things that we are thankful for. If you don’t love in the U.S, then today is probably just a normal day for you. But I challenge you not just set aside one day to be thankful, but to be thankful everyday.
The writer of today’s Psalm tells us to enter God’s gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. We come into God’s presence with thanksgiving and praise. The more thankful we are for the things we have the closer we come to God. And the closer we come to God the more we realize that he is good and that he loves and wants to take care of our needs. We, also, realize that his love for us lasts forever. Choose today to be thankful and enter God’s gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. Choose to be thankful everyday and not just one or two two times a year.
