Verse of the Day 1-13-21

There is false assumption among followers of Christ and the rest of the world that good things happen to good people and bad things happen to bad people. Yes those who choose good over evil will eventually be vindicated, but in the here and now the world we live in is ruled over by the forces of evil. Because of this you can expect to be persecuted, mocked, and ridiculed simply because you choose to not do or see things the world’s way, but instead you choose to see and do things God’s way. When you make the choose to reject the evil ways of the world and choose to do things God’s way your reward is not going to be here on earth, instead your reward is going to be in place where nothing can destroy it. Your reward will come in heaven and from knowing that you have done the will of God. Jesus said it this way, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21 NIV). Jesus knew we would face persecution and reminded us that our treasures or the things that we value the most shouldn’t be the things of this world, because the things of this world are fleeting, here today and gone tomorrow. Instead we are to be focused on the things of God and building his kingdom, because that is where your true treasure lies.
