Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father expect through him. Peter’s words to the ruling council of his day reflect the words that Jesus spoke, which I paraphrased above. The only way to get to God is through Jesus and willingly accepting his atoning sacrifice for you. You can’t earn your way to God and you can’t inherit your way in. You must willingly come to Jesus and willingly lay everything at the foot of the cross, thus yielding control of your life to him. That is what salvation is. It is not just a get out of hell free card, but rather it is you willingly submitting your life to God and being willing to do whatever he has called you to do.
