Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.-Luke 6:38

As a follower of God you are called to give. However, you should never give out of compulsion, but rather you should give out of a love for God and everything that he has done for you. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 9:7 “for God loves a cheerful giver”. When you learn to be open handed and not closed handed you will find that your attitude about lots of things will change, because you will no longer view everything you have, whether material possessions, talents, gifts or abilities comes from God and that you owe it all to him. This is what Jesus meant when he said “with the measure you use, it will be measure to you”. If you only give God a little don’t expect a big return. You get out of your walk with God what you put into it. Choose today to live open handed acknowledging that everything you have comes for God and willing and cheerfully giving back what God lays on your heart to give. Remember God loves a cheerful giver.
