Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.-Colossians 3:23-24
We were made to worship God and one of the ways we worship God is through our work. I’m sure you have seen people, both believers and unbelievers, who are constantly grumbling and complaining about their jobs. The people who are constantly grumbling and complaining are, also, the people you will find putting the least effort into their work. They are the ones who feel that they are always being slighted, cheated, under paid, under appreciated and whatever else they can think of to complain about and give them a “reason” for going through the motions of doing the job they were hired to do. If you are a follower of Christ you have been called to be different than the world and part of being different from the world is to change the way you think about work. As a follower of Christ you are not actually working for your boss, but you are in fact working for God. Since you are working for God don’t think you should always be doing your best no matter what the task is. The people around you will notice this difference and will want to know more about it, so that your good example may lead more people to know the truth that will set them free.
