They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of Lord! Blessed is the king of Israel!”-John 12:13
This is what we call the triumphant entry. It is the day when Jesus entered the city of Jerusalem, for the last time, and was welcomed by the people of Israel as a conquering king. However, less than a week later the very same people who welcomed him as a conquering king with shouts of “Hosanna” would be shouting crucify him because they were looking for an earthly king, who would deliver them for the oppression of the Romans. The kingdom Jesus came to establish is not an earthly kingdom with defined borders, but the kingdom he came to establish is a heavenly one with no defined borders and where everyone is welcome.
