Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.-Isaiah 25:1

In this verse the prophet Isaiah gives two very important reasons why we should exalt (or give honor to) and praise God. The first is the most simplest reason of all: the fact that he is your God and my God. This alone should be all the reason you need to honor and and to praise God. However, if that is not enough of a reason for you to give God the praise and honor he so richly deserves then Isaiah gives you a second reason. This second reason may not be as obvious as the first, but it is just as important as it. The second reason is: all the wonderful things God has done and that he is going to do in your life. If you were to objectively look back over your life, especially as a follower of Christ, you will see that God has done great and wonderful things in your life. It may not seem like they were great and wonderful things at the time, but when you look back at them through the lens of time and faith you will see that the words of the apostle Paul in Romans are true: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28 NIV). God has and will continue to do wonderful things in your life you simply have to trust him and seek him. If you don’t believe this then take the words God spoke to the prophet Jeremiah to heart. “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.'” (Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV). Know this today: God is your God and he has wonderful plans for your life.
