Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.-1 Timothy 6:12
Timothy was Paul’s protege. He was a young man that Paul invested a lot of his time and energy into grooming him to be a leader in the vastly expanding young Christian church. Some of Paul’s last words ever recorded were written to Timothy and in today’s passage we see that Paul is encouraging his young protege to continue to fight the good fight of faith. Why was it so important for young Timothy to continue to fight the good fight and more importantly why is it so important for us to do the same? The reason this is important can be summed up in one of my most favorite sayings and it is, “all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing”. When you choose to stand and fight the good fight you are taking a stand against evil, and even through you may lose the battle you already know the outcome of the war. You know that in the end good will triumph over evil. Make your stand today and take heart in the fact that the outcome of the war has already been decided.
