The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.-Nahum 1:7
What is a refuge? A refuge is a place of safety, a place of healing, and a place of rest. When you place your trust in God he will provide with al these things. David describes God in this way in Psalm 23: “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk though darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff comfort me.” (Psalm 23:1-4 NIV). Both David and Nahum are painting the same picture of God. They are both painting a picture of God where he is actively looking to provide you with a place of safety, healing and rest. If none of these Old Testament passages provide you with comfort and assurance then maybe you will find comfort and assurance in the words of Jesus himself. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”(Matthew 11:28-30 NIV). Are you looking for rest, safety and healing then place your trust, today, in the one who can give it to you.
