For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face the of the Lord is against those who do evil.-1 Peter 3:12
Peter is quoting here two verses from Psalm 34. The message that Peter and David (the author of the Psalm that Peter is quoting) is very simple. They are saying that God looks after those who are actively doing his will. Peter is conveying the same message that Paul gives us in Romans 8 when he says “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:24 NIV). The message of these two passages is don’t let the pain and suffering that the world will inflict upon you deter you from doing God’s will for your life. Even though it may appear that everything is against you, remember that God is for you and that he hears your prayers.
