Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story-those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.-Psalm 107:1-3
The author of this Psalm begins with a very simple instruction: give thanks to God. He then tells us way we should give thanks to God and it is a very simple reason, because God is good and his love endures forever. Unlike our love as human beings, God’s love is never changing and never ending. God’s love is everlasting and that is why we are to give him thanks. But God’s everlasting and eternal love for us should also compel us to tell others about his love. That is what the author meant when he wrote “let the redeemed of Lord tell their story”. The word redeemed literal means to buy back. God in his infinite, everlasting and eternal love for you is willing to buy you back from chains of sin that the devil has used to keep you bound up. This should give you every reason in the world to give thanks to God and to tell others. Remember this today God loves you so much that he is willing to buy you back no matter what you have done.
