And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.-2 Corinthians 9:8

Paul in the previous verses had been talking about generosity. Blessing and generosity go hand in hand. In 2 Corinthians 9:6 Paul says this: “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” Paul is giving us here an interesting concept that we as modern followers of Jesus seem to have forgotten, and that is in order to be blessed you have to live life with open hands. God has given you everything that you have, whether you realize it or not. And when you come to realize that what you have is not really yours, you will then begin be more open handed with things. And the more you live your life open handed and showing that you can be faithful in the little things, the more opportunities for blessing God is going to give you. However, this does not mean that God is going to make you rich and famous, but what it does mean is that God will give everything that you need. Because that is what the blessed life is all about: looking to God for all your needs and trusting in him to supply them.
