Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”-Psalm 91:1-2

What is the writer of this Psalm trying to tell us? He is telling us where we should be placing our trust and where we should be finding our rest. And where should we be finding our rest and placing our trust? The answer to that is very simple: God. That is why the writer of this Psalm tells us “whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest”. And he carries the analogy even further when he writes in the next verse “He is my refuge and my fortress.” The words shelter, refuge and fortress are all conveying the same meaning. They are all places where a person can go to find rest and/or restoration. Which is exactly what God is and wants to be your life. He wants to be you shelter, your place of refuge and your fortress, but in order for him to be all these things for you you have to place your trust in him. God is not going to force his way into your life, you have to choose to dwell in the shelter of the Most High.
