Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more that food, and the body more than clothes?-Matthew 6:25
When Jesus said don’t worry about your life he was not telling you to not plan, but he was telling you to not obsess over those plans. Because of you are not planning and thinking a little bit ahead than you cannot be the good steward that God expects you to be of the resources that he has given you. However, the problem in planning ahead is when it becomes an obsession and you start to worry more about your plans and their success or failure than building God’s kingdom. Yes, you should plan ahead and be good stewards of the resources that God has given you, but that should never take precedence over God’s will. In fact Jesus said it in this way later in this passage, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”(Matthew 6:33 NIV).
