John is told at the end of his great vision that when God brings about the new heaven and the earth things will be completely different from the old heaven and the old earth. The world we live in now is full of things that cause pain and sorrow, but in the new earth that is coming there will be nothing that causes pain and sorrow. Because all the things that will cause pain and sorrow won’t exist anymore. This is something that we should wait with expectation for, but at the same time it should not derail us from our primary mission of making this world that we live in a better place for the short time that we are in it.
