For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.-Isaiah 41:13
When you have God on your side, what do you have to fear? The answer is obviously nothing. Then why does God over and over again constantly have to remind us of that fact? Very simply because we are human beings. And fear and anxiety are our natural responses when things do not go the way we thought they should or more importantly the way we thought they should. Here in today’s passage God very clearly tells Isaiah and through Isaiah us that our God is there to guide us and direct us through any ever situation that we may find ourselves in. That is what God meant when told Isaiah “for I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand”. God is telling Isaiah and us that when I appears that our strength has failed us and when it appears that we are at our weakest and most vulnerable point, that is when God’s power and strength is shown to be its greatest. Then God ends with these great words of encouragement, “and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” Remember this today: it is only when you reach the point of relying on God’s strength and power that you will truly be able to say that with God on my side I have nothing fear.
