Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.-Galatians 6:9-10

Often times we become weary in doing good, simply because our good deeds are often not rewarded in the here and now. But Paul here in his letter to the Galatians reminds us that even if our good deeds are not rewarded in the here and now we should not give up in doing them. And why should we not cease doing good deeds? Because you will be rewarded for them. And that is what Paul meant when he said “at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”. Paul concludes this short reminder about doing good by telling us to do good to all people. And why should we be doing good to all people? Should it be so that we look good and can pat ourselves on the back? Or should it be so that people will see Christ reflected in us? If we do it for the first reason, then we have already received our reward and we will never “reap a harvest” that Paul is talking about. But if we do it so that Christ is reflected in us, then even if we don’t receive award immediately we will receive it when we get to heave and we opened ourselves up to reaping a great harvest. Never stop doing doing good to others, because in doing good to others we reflect Christ out into the world.
