What is Paul trying to convey to us, when he says “carry each other’s burdens”? Paul is telling us that we have a duty and a responsibility as followers of Christ to help other believers. Too often those of us that are labeled “Christian” by the world will show the non-believer more compassion, then we will show to our fellow believers. Rather than reaching down to offer a brother or sister in Christ a helping hand, instead we turn our backs on them and leave them to figure things out on their own. In essence the Church shoots it’s wounded. And we then wonder why nobody wants anything to with God or the Church. The Church as a whole has failed to fulfill God’s law. The Church as a whole has failed to love their neighbors as themselves. And until the Church changes, the world won’t change.
