For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.-Romans 3:23-24
What does the word all mean? Exactly what it says, all or everybody without exemptions. So then every person living or who has lived on the planet earth has sinned or is going to sin at some point in time in their life. Why do we all sin? We all sin for two reasons: by choice and by nature. The first one is a little easier for us to understand, because we can all understand the power of the choices that we make in life. We have to choose whether or not we are going to obey God’s law and follow his instructions for our life. We like this particular reason for sinning better than the next one, because choices give us some control over our life.
Have you ever noticed that sometimes you do the wrong thing without ever even thinking about it. The reason for this is that by your very nature you are sinful. If you go back and read Genesis 3 you will see the story of the fall of man. It was through Adam and Eve’s disobedience to God that sin entered the world. And because we are all descendants of Adam and Eve are natural tendency is to sin. Why, because like Adam and Eve we live under a curse that can only be broken in one way. And that one way is through the saving grace of God that is given freely to us when accept the redeeming death of Jesus Christ.
