Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.-Isaiah 26:4
In whom should we place our trust? Should we place our trust in our material possessions, our standing in society or any other false god that we can think of? Or should we place our trust in the one true God? Of course we should place our trust in the one true God, because he is the same as he was yesterday and he is the same today, unlike the false gods that we create to put our trust in who shift and change all the time. A better way to describe God is like a solid rock upon whom you can build your foundation. And that is exactly how Jesus choose to describe it.
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.-Matthew 7:24-27 NIV
The point Jesus was making here is to build your life on a firm foundation. And that firm foundation is trust in God. And the only way you are going to be able to trust God is to get to know God. And the way you get to know God is through spending time with him, which means reading and studying his word (the Bible). Because if you don’t know God, then you can’t trust God. And if you can’t trust God, then you have built your life on something else other than “the Rock eternal”.
