As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.-Isaiah 55:10-11
Does God ever make a promise he can’t keep? Does God ever go back on his word? Of course God doesn’t go back on his word or break his promises. Why does God not break his promises or back on his word? Firstly because God is perfect and completely unlike us. In fact God tells us this in Isaiah 55:8 when he says this, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways” (NIV). And secondly God doesn’t break his promises or go back on his word so that we will trust and seek him. Again the prophet Isaiah said this in Isaiah 55:6-7, “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God for he will freely pardon” (NIV). For the only way we will ever seek God is if we trust him, and the only we will ever trust him is if he words are true and his promises are kept. So put your trust in the one who is perfect and who will never go back on his word and who will never break his promises. God made this promise over two thousand years ago to people of Israel through the prophet Isaiah and he makes this same promise to you today,
Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.-Isaiah 55:1-2 NIV
God is a promise keeper and you should put your trust in him today.
