You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins. You set aside your wrath and turned from your fierce anger. Restore us again, God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us. Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger through all generations? Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, Lord, and grant us your salvation.-Psalm 85:2-7
What does the word “iniquity” mean? “Iniquity” is very simply a fancy way of saying sin, which is a fancy way of saying all the things that we have done wrong in our lives. The writer of this psalm is telling us here that God has already forgiven you for all the things that you have done wrong, and all you need to do is accept God’s forgiveness by acknowledging him as your Lord and savior. God truly wants to restore you to right relationship with him, but he is not going to force it upon you. He is waiting for you to acknowledge the fact that you need restoration, for that is the key to salvation. Acknowledge the fact that you have made a mess of you life and ask God to restore you and he will, because God has already forgiven that sin he is just waiting for you to accept his forgiveness.
