You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. Psalm 119:114
What is God to you? Is he something that you put up on a shelf in a box and only take put when you need him? Or is he the very thing that you have placed your hope in? Most of those who claim to be “Christians” will tell you that is in God that have placed their hope and trust, but the reality is that they have placed God in a box and they only take him of out of that box once or twice a week. Why is this the case? Why do we not make God our refuge and our shield, and the one in whom we place are hope and trust? Very simply because we have not fully committed ourselves to God. We only want to give one or two days a week or one or two areas of our lives, but yet we still want to claim that he is our refuge and our shield, and the one in which we have placed our hope and our trust. If God really is your refuge and your shield, and if God really is the one in whom you have placed your hope and your trust; then you will have surrendered everything in your life to him. Surrender everything in your life to God, and let him be your refuge, your shield, and the one in whom you place your hope and your trust.
