romans.bible/romans-10-9If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord”, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile – the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:9-13
Paul here is giving us the most important and the most vital step to salvation and that is declaring with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and believing in your that God has raised him from the dead. But what are the other steps for salvation?
1. We have to recognize that everyone sins.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory God.” Romans 3:23
2. We have recognize the penalty for our sin is death.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
3. We have to believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins.
But demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Do you recognize that you are a sinner, and that the penalty for you sin is death. Do you believe that Jesus died for your sins, and do believe and declare that Jesus is Lord. Then all you need to do is publicly declare your belief that Jesus is Lord. And you do that by simply praying this simple prayer out loud:
Dear God, I know that my sin has separated me from you. Thank you that Jesus Christ died in my place. I ask Jesus to forgive my sin and to come into my life. Please begin to direct my life. Thank you for giving me eternal life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
