Verse of the 1-7-22

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

Paul here is telling us that death is the just compensation for sin; it is what we have earned and what we deserve for our offenses against God. But eternal life is not something we can earn; it is a gracious and undeserved gift from God-a gift we must simply receive by faith in Jesus Christ. If we accept the fact that Jesus gave his life to pay the penalty for our sin, then turn from that sin and surrender to his leadership, we will receive God’s gift of forgiveness and eternal life-the opportunity to know him now and to be with him forever.
