The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it. Psalm 24:1
David here in today’s passage is telling us that everything on earth belongs to God through the right of creation. If you have a hard time understanding this concept try thinking about it in this way: God is the patent holder for everything on earth. I’m sure you all know what it means to be a patent holder. The patent holder has complete control over his or her creation. What all this means is that because God took the various elemental bits floating around space and created the universe, to include our solar system and the earth, God has complete control over everything. Now let me make this absolutely clear: God has given us as human beings a free will, which means that we can accept or reject God’s control over our world. And this also means that if you choose to reject God controls over you, then everything that happens after that is a direct result of your choice. All this leads to only one conclusion: God is ultimately in control and he knows what is best for us. We have the simple choice of choosing to accept this control or choosing to reject this control. Which do you choose today, because the choice is yours and must choose wisely.
