Verse of the Day 1-29-22

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 1 John 3:16

John is not necessarily telling us that we have to physically sacrifice our lives, although we may have to at times to save another person. Rather, John is telling us that we should be willing to put aside our own rights, interests and concerns for the sake and benefit of others, particularly to show God’s love to them and bring them closer to Christ. Which is exactly what Jesus did, so the question we should be asking ourselves is this: What would Jesus do?
