Verse of the Day 2-1-22

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2

We must never view family, friends or wealth as our main source of help in this life. That position belongs to God. He is the only complete source for meeting our needs physically and spiritually. We must trust in him with all our hearts and depend on him for mercy and help “in our time of need”.

Hebrews 4:14-16 says this about this subject:

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are —yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Because Christ knows and is moved with compassion by our weaknesses and is able to relate to all that we experience in life, we can confidently approach God, knowing that our prayers are welcomed and desired by our heavenly Father. That meeting place is called the “throne of grace” because from it flow God’s favor, love, help, mercy, forgiveness, wisdom, spiritual power, spiritual gifts and the fruit of the Spirit. In fact, God provides all we need under any circumstances. One of the greatest blessings of salvation is that Christ is now our high priest-the mediator between God and people-who opens the way into God’s presence where we can always find the help we need.
