Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24
This is an appropriate prayer for every follower of Christ. Not only must we detest the evil in the world, but we must also be aware that there may be something in us that grieves God. We should always be willing to let God put us through any test that would reveal hidden sin and further develop his character in us. If he reveals anything offensive in us, we must admit it, give it up, turn from it and submit to God’s plans for us.
