In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, LORD,
make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8
All of us have troubled sleep at times. David surely endured some restless nights as he fled Saul’s wrath. Even Jesus spent some nights awake in prayer and wrestled in anguish through the nighttime hours. But when we have confidence in God’s ultimate care for us and in his control over things we cannot manage, we can release our worry by trusting in his most capable protection. This is the heart-quieting confidence that comes to those who trust God.
