Verse of the Day 4-13-22

If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. 1 Peter 4:15-16

Peter here is encouraging his readers, and that includes us today, to live in such a way that their sufferings were caused by their devotion to Christ and not by any evil acts, and they would glorify God by doing so. In other words what Peter is saying is that when you “suffer” for being a murder, thief or for having committed any other crime or for having violated God’s law in any way shape or form, then you have received your just punishment. But if you suffer because you are following God’s way and not the world’s way, then you should “rejoice” because it is a sign that you are living your life in the way that you should be living it, because just as the world hated and despised Christ so will it hate and despise you for living like him. So ask yourself this question: Am I suffering for something I have done wrong or am I suffering because I have chosen to live a life different than the majority of those around me?
