Verse of the Day 4-16-22

We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6

Part of our stubborn and rebellious nature includes the pull toward things that dishonor God. We prefer to follow our own selfish ways rather than obey God’s commands and instructions, and by doing this we are living to please ourselves rather than living to please God, which is direct rebellion against him. And this is one of the primary definitions fo sin, of which we are all guilty. Therefore, we all needed Christ to die in our place, because he is the only one who ever followed God’s purposes completely, resisting all selfish desires. For that reason, his is the only life worthy to pay the full penalty for sin. In order to receive the benefits of this sacrifice, we must admit our sins, accept Christ’s forgiveness, give up our own way and submit our lives to Christ’s leadership and to God’s purposes. And that is what we are celebrating and remembering ever Easter.
