Verse of the Day 6-20-22

Praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD, you his servants;
praise the name of the LORD.
Let the name of the LORD be praised,
both now and forevermore.
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the LORD is to be praised. Psalm 113:1-3

Psalm 113 begins and ends with a call to worship (vv. 1 and 9). Each of the first three verses uses the words “praise,” “name” and “the LORD” (vv. 1-3). God’s name represents his reputation, which is grounded in his covenant love. His named is praised by his people for all time and by the whole world. In verse 3, the psalmist is not speaking of praise that continues from morning to night; rather, he is describing universal praise-praise that comes from the east to the west.
