Verse of the Day 11-14-22

The LORD has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.
Praise the LORD, you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his bidding,
who obey his word.
Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts,
you his servants who do his will.
Praise the LORD, all his works
everywhere in his dominion.
Praise the LORD, my soul. Psalm 103:19-22

Psalm 103 concludes with a declaration of God’s universal kingship (v. 19), a major theme in Book IV (Psalm 90-106). The call to praise now moves beyond the psalmist and his fellow Israelites (103:1-5 and 6-18). Angels are majestic being whom God created and who help fulfill his plan throughout the world. The word they obey is not God’s word revealed to humans but the specific instructions God gives them as his angelic messengers (Hebrews 1:14). By the end of the psalm, the psalmist summons the whole creation, including humanity, to worship the one true God. The psalm ends as it began, with a personal reminder to praise God from the depths of the soul.
